Ag. Principal Judge Commends Kiboga High Court During Inspection Visit.
(R-L): Hon. Justice Karemani with the Ag. Principal Hon. Judge Lady Justice Okuo Kajuga at Kiboga High Court
The Acting Principal Judge, Lady Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga, yesterday conducted an inspection of the Kiboga High Court and commended the circuit for its strong leadership, effective case management, and innovative approaches in justice delivery.
During the inspection, Lady Justice Okuo Kajuga praised the Court's outstanding use of plea bargaining and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), which have fast-tracked the disposal of criminal cases and provided accused persons with quicker access to justice, particularly commending the Resident Judge, Justice Jameson Karemani, for championing these initiatives.
The Acting Principal Judge also highlighted the Court's effective practices, including the use of in-house sessions, the public display of a court complaint chart, emphasis on accurate data recording, and timely cause listing, especially for old cases. She noted that these innovations have enabled strategic case disposal and prioritized the handling of backlog matters.
She challenged Judicial officers at the circuit to work towards achieving zero backlog by the end of the next quarter, stressing that backlog reduction remains an intentional and top priority of the Judiciary. Her Lordship further encouraged the court to embrace technology, particularly in transcribing proceedings, to ensure records are availed promptly and remain accessible. According to her, timely availability of proceedings improves case management, strengthens accountability, and builds public trust in the justice system.
In response, Justice Karemani assured the Acting Principal Judge that Kiboga High Court is on course to achieving zero backlog and eliminating committals pending in its statistics.
The inspection was also joined by HW Mutatiina Natukunda Angela (and other judicial officers).
The Deputy Registrar of the Circuit, HW Angella Natukunda Mutatina was also in attendance.
